3 Up 3 Down Support
Baseball scorekeeping for iPhone
3 Up 3 Down is a scorecard you keep on your phone: two lineups, every pitch, every at-bat, and a box score that follows from what you recorded rather than from what you typed into it twice.
Need help, found a bug, or want to suggest something?
For a scoring problem, it helps enormously to know the inning, who was on base, and what you tapped just before it went wrong.
Common questions
Will I lose my games if I get a new phone?
Only if you haven't signed in. Until you do, your scorecards belong to an anonymous account tied to that installation — they sync and back up, but deleting the app or switching phones takes them with it.
Open Account from the game list and sign in with Apple. Nothing you have already scored is moved or lost when you do; the games you already have simply become reachable from any device you sign in on.
I signed in and my games are gone
Almost always this means you're signed in to a different Apple ID than the one the games were scored under. Check Account to see who is signed in, then sign out and back in with the right one.
If you had used 3 Up 3 Down on another device before, signing in on a new phone switches you to that existing account. 3 Up 3 Down asks first, and offers to bring the games from this phone with you. If you chose not to, those games stayed with the anonymous account they were scored under and are no longer reachable.
Can I score with no signal?
Yes — this is the normal case, and it's designed for. Everything is written to your phone first and syncs when a connection returns. You can score an entire game in a concrete dugout with no bars.
If 3 Up 3 Down can't reach the server, it says so at the top of the game list. That notice means "saved here, not there yet", not that anything was lost.
Do I have to type everyone's name?
No. You can start a game with no lineup at all. Unnamed slots read as "Batter 5" and can be named later — including in the fourth inning, at which point the three at-bats already recorded get the name too. Initials or jersey numbers work just as well if you'd rather not enter children's names.
Can I pull in a real MLB game?
Yes. When starting a game, pick a date and choose from that day's schedule, and 3 Up 3 Down will fetch both lineups. Lineups are posted a few hours before first pitch, so an early import may find the teams but not the batting order.
I made a mistake three innings ago
Scoring is a list of events, so a correction re-derives everything after it rather than patching the result. Open Review to find what 3 Up 3 Down noticed looked wrong, and it will take you to the event in question.
How do I delete a game, or everything?
Swipe a game in the list to delete just that one — you'll be asked to confirm, because a scorecard is hours of work and there's no undo behind it.
To remove everything, use Account → Delete Account. That erases every scorecard under your account on every device and cannot be undone. If you signed in with Apple, it also revokes 3 Up 3 Down's access to your Apple ID.
What do I need to run it?
An iPhone running iOS 17.2 or later. 3 Up 3 Down is an iPhone app; it will run on an iPad in iPhone compatibility mode, but the layout is built for a phone.
